Plastic as an elementary component of the material and recyclables base for a sustainable design of our future. Plastic is and remains - correctly used, disposed of or reused - an irreplaceable resource. We stand by our responsibility and demonstrate this in various projects:
Material
For many years, BARKU has met more than two-thirds of its annual requirement for plastic granulates (for example, for extrusion processes) through the consistent use of recycled materials. By maintaining a closed-loop system—where materials are recovered and reused—a single kilogram of virgin polymer can be transformed into multiple finished products; through rigorous recycling, what was essentially a discarded plastic component is effectively given a "new lease on life."
Energy from renewable sources
As early as 2022, BARKU was generating a large part of its energy needs using its own photovoltaic system. In order to make more extensive use of the energy generated in this way, extensive battery storage systems were installed at the end of 2023 and, since the beginning of 2024, the company has switched completely to sourcing electricity exclusively from renewable sources.
